New York City artist to share ‘Strangers Project’ at Diegueño Middle School’s Fall Festival
Diegueño Middle School is hosting a unique community experience at the school’s annual family night Fall Festival on campus at 2150 Village Park Way, Encinitas, on Oct. 25, from 5 to 8 p.m. This family night is unique in that the school will be taking part in The Strangers Project, curated by artist Brandon Doman of New York City. This is a collection of 30,000 anonymous true stories written on the spot by passing strangers. Students, parents, and local community members are invited to be a part of this living exhibit by reading the anonymous stories on display and by writing their own stories to add to the collection. The inspiration behind this project is that every person has a story to share - we are all just waiting for the right time for someone else to listen.
During the days prior to this event, Diegueño will be taking part in the National Red Ribbon Week Campaign to raise drug, alcohol and tobacco prevention awareness. During this week, students will be writing their own anonymous stories to add to The Strangers Project collection. In addition, the event will include food trucks, carnival games, prizes, performances, exhibits and music.
