Piano dedication concert at Encinitas Community Center Jan. 26

Piano funded via the 88 Key Program
2018 began with the launch of the 88 Key Program to raise funds for a 9’ concert grand piano for the Encinitas Community Center. The program was a success and on Sunday, Jan. 26 at 4 p.m., the community is invited to hear the first concert. Russian pianist Svetlana Smolina will perform a program of music by Rachmaninoff, Chopin, Kapustian and Schumann’s Piano Concerto in A minor. The concert is presented by the City of Encinitas and Encinitas Friends of the Arts. Tickets are $20. The Community Center is located at 1140 Oakcrest Park Drive, Encinitas, 92024.
Smolina has performed with orchestras and in recitals worldwide. A recipient of the New Names scholarship program, her notable appearances with orchestras include the Mariinsky Orchestra at Carnegie Hall, New York Philharmonic at Avery Fisher, and St. Petersburg Philharmonic. A frequent guest at festivals worldwide, Smolina has performed at the Salzburg Festival, Mozarteum and Hollywood Bowl.
