Assistance League of Rancho San Dieguito (ALRSD) will hold a special first-time outside sidewalk sale of plants Friday, Aug. 7, 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Saturday, Aug. 8, 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Creative pots, succulents, plant cuttings and garden art have been lovingly prepared by volunteer members who have used their time of lockdown to help the organization raise funds for its many community outreach programs.
ALRSD’s Thrift Shop hours have had to be shortened to three-and-a-half days per week: Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and a half day on Saturday. All the women who staff the shop are volunteers and because of the safety limitations imposed by COVID-19, ALRSD has been especially hit hard. Many of the women who are the most dedicated volunteers fall into the most vulnerable category and are unavailable to staff the shop. The Thrift Shop is located at 1542 Encinitas Blvd.

ALRSD relies on donations and revenue from the shop to fund its many community philanthropic programs, such as the recent awarding of college scholarships to local high school seniors. Recently a shopper in the Thrift Shop wrote a check for $300 for the scholarship fund.

ALRSD welcomes donations of money and gently used household items and clothing.
ALRSD is vested in the education of children through other programs such as Operation School Bell. ALRSD raises funds through its Thrift Shop in Encinitas, fundraising events, individual and corporate donations, and community and government grants. Funds are returned to the community through philanthropic programs that serve children and adults. Membership is open to everyone. Visit www.alrsd.org. Call 760-634-1091.
