Leucadia 101 Main Street virtual art auction goes online Dec. 4-11
The Leucadia 101 Main Street is hosting its first-ever virtual art auction from Dec. 4-11. The auction, “Collective Introspection”, will feature the original works of more than a dozen local artists spanning media including drawing, painting, ceramics, printmaking and photography.
“Leucadia is known as the ‘art and soul of Encinitas’ and we wanted to bring local art to our community during the holidays, especially because we chose to forgo our beloved annual LeucadiART Walk this summer,” said Annika Walden, executive director of Leucadia 101 Mainstreet. “We are thrilled to continue our long-standing support of local artists and hope the community will bid generously to support them as well.”
In addition to the original works available for purchase, L101 will sell posters and notecard sets featuring a select number of the original works – perfect for self-gifting or giving to others this holiday season.
“I’ve never been more grateful to find relief in creativity than I have in the past year,” said Loryn Cook, a participating artist. “Quarantine was/is the constant reminder of how much having a creative outlet can impact mental health. I’m so grateful to L101 for providing a space for artists and lovers of art to find a little relief in creativity.”
Back by popular demand, locals can also support L101 with a donation-based purchase of limited-edition holiday mixed six-packs featuring beverages from Duck Foot Brewing Co., Guthrie CiderWorks, Local Roots, Luna Bay Booch, Rosé Water, Saint Archer Brewing, Tiny Bubbles and Topo Chico. Suggested donation bids start at $15 and are available for purchase Dec. 4-8.
Purchased original works, posters, notecard sets and mixed six-packs will be available for pickup at the Leucadia 101 office (466 N. Coast Highway 101, Suite 7) on Wednesday, Dec. 16 and Thursday, Dec. 17 from 12 to 6 p.m.
Participating artists include Jonny Alexander, Jack Antal, Loryn Cook, Laura Fischer, Chase Hartman, Pepa Ivanoff, Kate Joiner, Joel Kaneshiro, Roy Kerckhoffs, Troy Kingman, Kuni Kobashi, LaMonte Lamoureux, Jeannine Moeder, Laurie Nasica, Zach Smith and Charley Taylor.
