A traveling dinosaur show with more than 70 walking, life-like animatronic dinosaurs, is slated to stop at the Del Mar Fairgrounds Jan. 1-10. The interactive drive-thru exhibit, called Jurassic Quest, will transform the fairgrounds outdoor parking area into a prehistoric dinosaur wonderland.

The exhibit features dozens of prehistoric creatures such as Tyrannosaurus rex, Triceratops and the 80-foot-long Spinosaurus along with the 50-foot-long Megalodon and marine creatures meticulously re-created by paleontologists and displayed in realistic scenes that allow visitors to drive though and watch the dinosaurs roaring and moving. Visitors will be guided along with a digital audio tour (in English or Spanish) featuring show entertainers and dinosaur wranglers that lasts about an hour.

Along with the life-like dinosaur exhibits, there will be chances to visit with one-of-a-kind baby dinosaurs and the show’s team of dino trainers. Visitors can capture the moment on film with a safari-style photo of your vehicle and family transported back in time via a Jurassic setting with a dinosaur backdrop. (One photo per family is included with ticket purchase.)

Visitors are asked to stay in their cars and must wear masks if they leave the car in allowed areas. Social-distancing rules will be observed.

The show is from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily, Jan. 1-10; closed on Jan. 4-5 at the fairgrounds’ Tropicana Field, 2260 Jimmy Durante Blvd.

Tickets are $49 per car and must be purchased in advance online at jurassicquest.com. — Linda McIntosh, San Diego Union-Tribune
