Encinitas Rotary Club hosts Christmas ballroom dancing event for seniors
Over 100 senior citizens, many from North County, gathered at the Boys & Girls Clubs of San Dieguito’s Griset Branch in Encinitas Dec. 25 for some Christmas ballroom dancing.
The Encinitas Rotary Club has been holding the dance every Wednesday for 10 years, and wanted to make sure local seniors had something to look forward to on Christmas Day.
“For many of them, sadly, there’s no place to go,” said Sharon Cooper, of the Encinitas Rotary Club.
The event, which also included a luncheon, is supported by several local businesses. Cooper said it gives the seniors a good opportunity to exercise and meet their peers.
“Dancing for seniors is probably the best activity they can do,” she said.
