The Encinitas Lions Club 2020 Student Speaker Contest took place Jan. 23 at the Encinitas Library. All student speakers were from San Dieguito Academy and ranged from freshmen to seniors.

The Club Level winner was senior Hallie Schafer. Hallie will advance to the Zone level competition to be held in March. The Encinitas Lions Club gave special thanks to guest judges Marggie Castellano (film/TV producer); Raegan Matthews (three-time Emmy winner) and Douglas Applegate (Ret. U.S. Marine Corps Colonel and lawyer).
