Over 12 weeks ago the Encinitas Educational Foundation, Encinitas Union School District and PTAs across all nine school sites came together to coordinate a fundraising effort to assist the district’s most vulnerable families during the COVID-19 pandemic. The Be Strong/Se Fuerte campaign raised over $95,000 in support of over 550 families who were experiencing food insecurity.

The campaign was able to give out over 5,000 bags of food, 1,300 Smart & Final gift cards and 1,900 loaves of bread. Several local businesses stepped up to support district families, including Smart & Final, Flippin’ Pizza, Jersey Mike’s Subs, Menchie’s La Costa Town Square, Yummy Cupcakes, Davis Sales, Inc, Code Ninjas, Mathnasium of La Costa and All That By Jody.

Thanks to Venture Church, the food drive will continue to support district families in need this summer.

The Encinitas Educational Foundation has now partnered with San Diego Lab Rats and its Virtual Summer Science & Sports Academy to continue to raise money for the foundation. The virtual camp runs July 13-31 and camp enrollment will pay for a scholarship family to access the camp as well as the foundation’s continuing efforts to support vulnerable families.
