Switchfoot Bro-Am Beach Fest

First Sunday Music Series: Joshua White

4th of July Parade through the Garden

A 4th of July Parade will be held July 4 at San Diego Botanic Garden. Bring decorated strollers and wagons (no bikes please) and wear red, white and blue. Meet at Seeds of Wonder at 10 a.m. and the parade will start at 10:30 a.m.

Meet the artist: Angela Jackson

This summer, Encinitas Parks, Recreation and Cultural Arts brings the fun to Moonlight Beach at its Sunday Summer Concerts by the Sea series in July and August. Known as “The World’s Most Authentic Tribute to Van Halen,” Fan Halen will set the stage with Dave, Eddie, Alex and Michael in a true-to-life tribute to not only the band but the spirit of an era on July 1 from 3 to 5 p.m. at Moonlight Beach. Book Sale at Library

Encinitas Friends of the Library Bookstore holds a book sale on July 7. Most books will be from 25 cents to $1, with CD’s for 25 cents and DVDs typically $1. Books range from current fiction, children’s selections, biography, self-help and spirituality to health, history, travel and science.

Flicks at the Fountain

The Carlsbad Village Association will host its annual Flicks at the Fountain, a weekly series of family-fun films at Carlsbad Village’s prominent fountain at the corner of State Street and Grand Avenue. The free movies make their big screen debut on July 5 at dusk, or around 8 p.m., and continue each Thursday evening until Aug. 9. The Concert That Never Was

Sharon Owens and Sebastian Anzaldo, two of the most impressive celebrity impersonators in the business, travel the world performing their uncanny tribute to the two famous singers, Frank Sinatra and Barbra Streisand. Mobile blood drive

Magdalena Ecke Family YMCA, in partnership with the San Diego Blood Bank, will hold a mobile blood drive Tuesday, July 10, from 1 p.m.-6 p.m. at 200 Saxony Rd., Encinitas, 92024 - parking lot. It is recommended that donors consume an adequate meal and plenty of fluids prior to giving. A photo identification must be presented upon signing up to donate. Donors must be 17 and older (age 16 requires a parental consent), 114 pounds and in good health.

Artists sought for Art & Wine Festival

Calling all artists! The La Jolla Art & Wine Festival, a benefit for La Jolla public schools, is booking its booths for the 10th annual La Jolla Art & Wine Festival, Saturday, Oct. 6 and Sunday, Oct. 7 down Girard Avenue.

Organizers promise spectacular art, fine wine, San Diego’s best craft beers, live entertainment and family-friendly activities. This curated festival will feature some 150 artists from across the United States and Mexico. Profits raised benefit underfunded programs such as art, music, science, physical education, technology and on-site medical care at La Jolla public elementary and middle schools.

RSF Historic Home Tour

The Rancho Santa Fe Historical Society is now taking reservations for its first Historic Home Tour co-partnered with the Women In Architecture, Palomar Chapter of the American Institute of Architects. The tour is to be held Saturday, July 14, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., and will feature six remarkable vintage homes and Lilian Rice-inspired classic homes. The identities of these spectacular homes remains a mystery, to be revealed at check-in when attendees receive their tour brochure.

The tour will include vintage Spanish Hacienda-style mansions to intimate Pueblo and Arts and Crafts homes. Each home retains its historic designation with modern updates and additions that preserve the historic nature of the properties.

The tour early check-in begins at 11 a.m. at La Flecha House, the Historical Society’s headquarters at 6036 La Flecha in Rancho Santa Fe.
