Pedestrian hit by train, killed in Encinitas
The death of a pedestrian who was struck by a train in Encinitas Saturday night, May 18, may have been a suicide, a sheriff’s official said. The train crew reported having struck a person on the tracks near Hillcrest Drive shortly before 9 p.m., authorities said.
The Sheriff’s Department is investigating the death, having jurisdiction over incidents involving trains in the county.
