Encinitas city manager, employees to receive raises

Encinitas’ chief administrator will receive a $5,000 annual raise after City Council action Wednesday, June 19.
The pay hike represents a 2 percent annual increase, bringing City Manager Karen Brust’s base yearly salary to $255,000. Council members also agreed to grant her another 40 hours of annual vacation leave.
Council members praised Brust for her work.
“She does an outstanding job and she has been a municipal government employee for 30 years — lots of experience she brings to the city,” Mayor Catherine Blakespear said. “So, we’re really excited about this.”
In separate actions, the council approved contracts that will give non-managerial employees and fire chief officers 2 percent raises in each of the next four years.
