Students from The Rhoades School in Encinitas excel at county science fair

Students from The Rhoades School in Encinitas brought home over 150 awards from the 2020 Greater San Diego Science and Engineering Fair, which took place in early March. All seventh and eighth graders at The Rhoades School qualified to compete this year, conducting a variety of sophisticated science fair experiments in a diverse range of subjects, including microbiology, medicine and health, computer science, engineering and physics, environmental science and astronomy. The 47 students earned several awards for their projects, including 30 first place awards.

State nominations were awarded to 24 Rhoades School students, and Broadcom MASTERS national nominations were awarded to 18 Rhoades School students. This meant that Rhoades School students made up one third of the state and national nominations presented at the fair. Rhoades School eighth grader Bhadra Rupesh was also selected for a “Grand Award,” given to the top four projects that represent the very highest of student achievement.

During these unprecedented times, The Rhoades School has fully transitioned to a robust distance learning program to provide students with a different, yet enriching education. — News release
