San Dieguito Academy 9th grade student Joe Burke was one of the winners of the annual MTS and Reyes Coca-Cola Laptop Scholarship Contest.

The Metropolitan Transit System (MTS) recently recognized the 40 winners of the contest through a virtual ceremony led by County Supervisor Nathan Fletcher. Students in grades 9-12 were required to submit a written essay between 750 and 1,000 words outlining their vision for the future of transit, outlining regional challenges and how public transportation can help solve them.

MTS received over 170 entries from 70 campuses around San Diego. The top 40 scoring students came from 24 high schools, and were awarded a 15.6” HP Touch-Screen laptop and a laptop backpack.
