Votes continue to tally for Encinitas-area school board races

Several school board seats were up for grabs in the November election. (For updates and overall results, visit the websites below):

The San Diego Union-Tribune (sandiegouniontribune.com), county registrar of voters office (sdvote.com) and California secretary of state’s office (sos.ca.gov).

With 305,000 ballots left to be counted in San Diego County, results are still unofficial but in the race for San Dieguito Union High School District Area 2, candidate Katrina Young is in the lead with 55% of the vote over Leslie Schneider with 44%.

In the Encinitas Union School District, six candidates were jockeying for two available seats. Candidate Marlon Taylor, a retired veteran, has received the most votes with 16,247 or 28.7%. Jodie Williams, an attorney, is holding the second spot with 24% of the vote. Candidate Matt Wheeler received 19%, Christian Adams 15%, Adina Smarandache 8.53% and Leonard Dimedio 4.45%.

In the Cardiff School board race, former board member Rhea Stewart looks poised to regain a seat on the board. Stewart and incumbent Nancy Orr are the top vote-getters, each with about 37% of the vote. Candidate Steven Grimaldi received 22% and Billy Swinnea received 3.29% of the vote.
