Encinitas resident hides, calls 911 after spotting burglar in home
The incident happened about 11:15 a.m. in a neighborhood behind Scripps Encinitas
A woman hid and called 911 when she spotted a burglar in her Encinitas home late Saturday morning, Feb. 6, but the man got away, a sheriff’s lieutenant said.
About 11:15 a.m., the woman called to report the man was inside her home on Devonshire Drive, in a neighborhood behind Scripps Encinitas, Lt. Jim Emig said. Deputies arrived, set up a perimeter around the home and went inside, but the man was gone.
Deputies also searched the area by helicopter but were unable to find the man.
The victim reported she was missing jewelry, Emig said.
The burglar was described as a White man about 30 years old, about 5 feet, 10 inches tall. He had on a blue flannel shirt and a black baseball cap with a flat bill.
