Death investigation underway after body found in Encinitas
The body was found near 2nd Street and B Street, near a nature preserve about two blocks from Moonlight State Beach
Authorities on Thursday, April 1, were investigating the death of a person whose body was found a few blocks from Moonlight State Beach, a sheriff’s lieutenant said.
It was not immediately known how the person died, but homicide investigators responded “as a precaution” based on the public discovery of the body, sheriff’s Lt. Chris Lawrence said.
Someone reported just after 5 p.m. there was a “person down” on Second Street near B Street, Lawrence said. Deputies and medics responded and found “a deceased person in the bushes.”
The body was found less than two blocks from Moonlight State Beach, near a small nature preserve.
No other details were immediately available.
