Ada Harris Elementary Wildcat Band Spring Concert

The Ada Harris Elementary Wildcat Band held its Spring Concert May 14 at the Ada Harris Auditorium.

The Spring Concert was directed by Catherine Gold, M.Mus.Ed., band director, and featured the Beginning Ensemble, Advanced Ensemble, and Chamber Ensemble. The program also featured a variety of musical styles including jazz, classical, rock-n-roll, and pop.

Beginning Ensemble members are mostly 4th graders in their first year playing an instrument. Advanced Ensemble members are 5th and 6th grade students who are in their second or third year of playing.

The Wildcat Band is a traditional concert band featuring woodwind, brass, and percussion instruments, and consists of approximately 100 players — over 30 percent of the eligible student body. The band offers the opportunity to participate to all interested students regardless of financial contribution, including 18 students on full scholarship and 20 on partial scholarship.

The Wildcat Band is funded, in part, by the City of Encinitas/Mizel Family Foundation Community Grant Program.
