Letter to the editor: Hoping for ‘Strawberry Fields Forever’

We were so sad to read that Caltrans is in escrow to purchase 20 of the 30-acre strawberry fields on Manchester Avenue, just east of I-5.

The strawberry fields have been the perfect, healthy, gateway and introduction to Encinitas. Beginning each spring through the end of summer, we buy the highest-quality, most delicious strawberries from the strawberry stand on Manchester to keep our families happy and in the pink!

Our only hope is that the owner of the other 10 acres of the strawberry fields gave no indication of being a willing seller.

Please keep the other 10 acres “Strawberry Fields Forever!”
