Encinitas seeks input on pedestrian safety
Let’s Move, Encinitas! is rolling out its final survey as part of an effort to create safer walking routes.
The city of Encinitas and local nonprofit Circulate San Diego have developed a series of online surveys that allow citizens to rank Encinitas locations based on pedestrian safety concerns for those areas.
These online surveys, organized by location within the five communities that make up Encinitas, will help to prioritize safety improvements based on a number of factors — and one of the most important factors will be public input.
The results of these online surveys will be presented in a series of five workshops scheduled throughout October 2014, and will also be included in the draft Pedestrian Travel and Safe Routes to School Plan, which is slated to be completed by January 2015.
The city will use that plan to document and prioritize pedestrian safety concerns, and ultimately, to seek funding for future infrastructure improvements.
The online survey is available now through Sept. 20. To find the survey, and for project information, visit www.letsmoveencinitas.org. Also see https://www.facebook.com/LetsMoveEncinitas and Twitter: @Move_Encinitas.
