A man was struck by an Amtrak train in Encinitas but suffered only an injured right arm, a San Diego County sheriff’s deputy said.

The incident occurred at 4:50 p.m. July 19 in the 1400 block of North Vulcan Avenue, said San Diego County sheriff’s Deputy Ed Macken.

“Witnesses say the male was attempting to cross the tracks. He lost his footing, stumbled and fell as the train approached,’’ Macken said.

The man suffered an injury to his right arm and was transported to Scripps Memorial Hospital Hospital in La Jolla, he said.

The accident was under investigation by the sheriff’s Rail Enforcement Unit, Macken said.
