Encinitas Union School District announces the selection of Chris Juarez as principal, Flora Vista Elementary School. His appointment was approved by the EUSD Board of Trustees at its regular meeting April 21.

Juarez replaces Stephanie Casperson, who was hired as the director of educational technology in the San Marcos Unified School District. With 24 years of experience in public education, Juarez comes to Encinitas from Curie Elementary School in the San Diego Unified School District, where he served as principal. He obtained his master’s degree in educational leadership and a bachelor’s degree in business administration from San Diego State University. He holds a Multiple Subject Teaching Credential as well as an Administrative Credential.

Juarez strongly believes that all students can be successful with rigorous content on their path towards developing the skills that will prepare them for success in college and tomorrow’s evolving workforce. He has been successful in his career creating school environments that best support students in applying their learning to attain these outcomes, where:

• Students and staff are valued for their individuality and the unique gifts they bring to the school community;

• Staff work collaboratively to improve the success of students and the effectiveness of the teaching;

• Parents feel welcome and are provided the tools to support their child’s development at school and at home.

Supervisors and co-workers describe him as a leader with a clear focus on student achievement, who sets high standards and expectations. He leads through “vision, collaboration, and shared decision-making based on the best interests of all students” and is committed to “innovation and a focus on best practices to move his school forward.”
