Man killed in multi-vehicle crash in Encinitas
A 28-year-old man was killed May 9 in a multi-vehicle crash in Encinitas, authorities said.
The victim was identified as John Wilcsek, 28, of Encintas, according to the Medical Examiner’s Office.
Wilcsek and his father were on motorcycles the morning of May 9 when he collided with a Hyundai in an effort to avoid it and was thrown into oncoming traffic, where he was hit by an Infiniti SUV, according to the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department.
When response teams arrived at the scene they found Wilcsek on the ground and his motorcycle encompassed by fire. He was taken to Scripps Hospital, where he later died, authorities said.
Alcohol was not thought to be a factor in the crash, which took place at North Rancho Santa Fe Road and Peppertree Lane.
There were no other injuries, department officials said.
