Former DM mayor, Encinitas farmer appointed to fair board
Gov. Jerry Brown appointed former Del Mar Mayor Lee Haydu and Encinitas farmer Pierre Sleiman to the 22nd District Agricultural Association board of directors on Feb. 27.
Sleiman, 28, has been the founder and chief executive officer at Go Green Agriculture Inc. since 2009. He is also a member of the San Diego County Farm Bureau board of directors. Sleiman earned a master’s in business administration from the UC San Diego Rady School of Management.
A Del Mar resident for more than 30 years, Haydu, 66, was elected to the Del Mar City Council in 2010. She served as mayor of the city from 2013 to 2014 and as deputy mayor the previous year.
The two new board members will replace David Lizerbram, who stepped down last month when his term ended, and Adam Day, who submitted his letter of resignation on Feb. 27.
Day previously served as president of the 22nd District Agricultural Association board, and was appointed last year by Brown to the California State University board of trustees. He also chairs San Diego Mayor Kevin Faulconer’s task force on the new Chargers stadium.
