The third annual Surfing Madonna Low Tide Beach Run took off on Oct. 24, featuring a 5K, 10K and a 10-mile race at Encinitas’ Moonlight Beach.

Everyone from elite runners to moms with strollers took part. The Surfing Madonna Oceans Project uses proceeds from the race to fund various local causes, including a surf camp for Wounded Warriors and special needs youth.

The city’s accompanying Moonlight Beach Fest featured live music, a surf and skate arena, sand sculptures, live art and more. \
