Surfer found dead at Swami’s Beach

A 61-year-old surfer was found dead the morning of Oct. 30 at Swami’s State Beach in Encinitas.

A passerby found the body of Kenneth Mann of Encinitas lying face down in a wetsuit next to a surfboard on the shoreline near the 1300 block of South Coast Highway 101 around 5 a.m., according to sheriff’s officials and the county Medical Examiner’s Office.

It was unclear how long Mann had been dead.

A cause-of-death ruling is on hold pending autopsy results.
